Meme Time

Yikes! How does this happen? I got tagged for two “memes” this week. I don’t deserve this. Y’all know there is no personal content here!
What IS a meme? In the Blogosphere, its become its own little term. This explains it a little better. In my research, I also found its pronounced “meem”, whereas I thought it could possibly be “me me”, since its usually about the writer’s personal life or views. I have a hard time believing anyone would care about my personal views, so I’ll try my best to make these a bit interesting.
Katie Schwartz went out in public and said I should do the book meme.
1 ) One book that changed your life:
Are Those Kids Yours? by Cheri Register.
This book made me think long and hard about the ethics of international adoption and how to raise children in that situation.
2) One book that you’d read more than once:
Oh, there are lots of those, especially when I was younger, but what comes to mind right now is The Crystal Cave by Mary Stewart.
3 ) One book you’d want on a deserted island:
How to Build Wooden Boats by Edwin Monk. I usually read more for knowledge than for entertainment.
4) One book that made you laugh:
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.
5) One book that made you cry:
Charlotte’s Web. I cried just last year, when I tried to explain to my daughters what a good book it is, and why they should read it before watching the movie. Also see #7. Night by Elie Weisel. The Painted Bird by Jerzy Kosczinski. The Good Women of China, by Xinran.
6) One book you wish you’d written:
The Harry Potter books. I haven’t read them, but duh.
7) One book you wish had never been written:
Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes.
Not that I regret the book, per se, but I wish that the experience of the atomic bomb dropping on her hometown and causing her cancer had never happened.
8) One book you’re currently reading:
The Chinese in America by Iris Chang.
9) One book you’ve been meaning to read:
The Worst Person in the World by Keith Olbermann. His TV reports lately have been so remarkably honest and powerful.
10) Tag five people:
Sorry, not gonna do it. I wouldn’t put anyone through the work this involved.
Konagod went a little easier on me, since this is a photo meme, 8 Things I Find Amazing in Picture Form.
How about we set the mood with some music? Here's Maybe I'm Amazed.

1. This is pretty amazing.

2. I’m amazed that this hillbilly went to Hong Kong.
3. How we could let this happen in Darfur. (click to enlarge)

4. Where I live is very beautiful.
5. I’m amazed that I can sit in my bedroom and communicate with people all over the world.
6. How could this...

.....turn into this?
7. How did this................................. turn into this?

And finally....I am amazed at how
8. The universe is so big, and we are so small.
Thought for today: What really amazes me is that I got through the book meme without making big long lists of books for each item!

I thought about tagging you at that time, but I didn't. Aren't I a good boy? But really, I know how busy you must be and all. I liked the format of your book meme today. Also the photos of all things amazing. Have a nice day.
HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Loved your book choices and explainations.
That contortionist lady makes me hurt just looking at her - LOL
Where you live IS beautiful! (And we are so tiny in this big ol' universe!)
Hong Kong - how cool!
Darfur...{{shivers}}
Communication around the world is indeed amazing! Love that you included your links map!
The kids are beautiful!
Thanks for sharing!
Your girls are gorgeous and are lucky to have you for an amazing mom!!
I'm crying right along with you about Charlotte.
I LOVE the Harry Potter books. My son is a REALLY die-hard Potter fan. He's read all the books several times, and he will be racing to get the last one when it comes out.
I WISH I would have written those books. Imagine being richer than the Queen of England??!!!! I could handle that!
That picture of the woman with her feet next to her head has me a bit worked up.
I've only read 2 books in my life. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and that Fred the mailman story.
The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy made my list also.
